Greece is famous for its 24-hour entertainment, its clubs, restaurants and bars buzzing with life well into the small hours of the morning. For those seeking fun and entertainment throughout the day and night, Halkidiki has plenty to offer: morning coffee in a traditional kafeneion, cocktails at the beach bar till the sun goes down, dinner in a traditional taverna or classy restaurant, drinks in one of the innumerable bars, and then a long evening listening to Latin jazz or reggae… And for the more sophisticated.
Sun, sea and relaxation – the three things we associate most closely with Greece and with Halkidiki. There is a wide range of leisure activities to choose from: dancing through the night, relaxing with a cooling cocktail, sampling the delights of Mediterranean cuisine, shopping for designer labels or browsing in little stores selling folk art and souvenirs, trying your luck at the casino, joining in village feast days or attending arts festivals. Or just lying back and relaxing in one of the state-of-the-art spas, dedicating yourself to wellness and beauty.
Whatever your holiday tastes – the three peninsulas of Halkidiki have what you are looking for!
Kassandra
The first ‘foot’ of Halkidiki is alive with leisure activities, for people of all ages and tastes. The area around Kallithea is particularly popular with young people, and with all who enjoy clubbing. There are night clubs offering music from rising stars and established performers on the Greek music scene. There is also the cosmopolitan resort of Hanioti, Skala Fourkas, Siviri, with its rich programme of arts events, and Athytos, as picturesque as one of the Greek islands. And last but not least, the Sani Resort, as self-sufficient as an independent township, offering rest and relaxation in an opulent and cosmopolitan setting of hotels, marinas and spas, with its own arts festival, shops and gourmet restaurants – not to mention a sea so clear and clean you could almost drink it!
Sithonia
The second foot of Halkidiki also has plenty of facilities for fun and leisure, but is also popular with nature lovers; it is quieter and greener than Kassandra. The best of the night life is to be sampled at Neos Marmaras, and just a short drive away you can try your luck at the casino at Porto Carras, the huge hotel complex. Sarti, on the other side of the peninsula, is also lively, while fashionable bars are to be found in Vourvourou and there are lots of leisure options at Nikiti.
Athos
The area around Mt. Athos is the quietest part of Halkidiki, but it too has its share of bars, little tavernas with excellent food and wine, and beach bars right on the sand.
Mountain Halkidiki
The mountain towns and villages of Halkidiki are an ideal holiday destination at any season and will appeal to all who love the natural environment and the chance to relax completely. There are excellent trails for walking, mountain-biking or horse-riding, while a number of the guesthouses now have spas dedicated to the well being of mind and body. And in the evenings you can round off the day with excellent local food and wine.
Events
The hotels of Halkidiki and the glorious natural setting they occupy are the ideal place to make a social event into an absolutely unforgettable experience.
Weddings, baptisms, anniversaries, birthday or engagement parties – unique moments to savour in the company of family and friends.
There are both indoor and open-air venues for social events, with professional advisers to guide you through every stage of the preparations and offer ideas and suggestions to make your most romantic dreams come true.
In Halkidiki, every event is special, every wish can be fulfilled…
